Freedom Beach is a small white-sand cove tucked below forested hills between Patong and Karon. Rocky headlands frame the bay, and the beach feels a world away from the main road. Getting there is part of the outing, whether you take a longtail boat from southern Patong or walk down through the forest.
The path is steep and can be slippery after rain. Bring water and shoes with good grip. If you go by boat, check sea conditions, availability and the return fare before setting out.
